Time entries
Your time log is the record of hours worked for each client and contract. Use it for billing, checking retainer usage, and reports.
Two ways to log time
Work timer (recommended when you are working now)
On the home screen, start the timer for a contract, work while it runs, then End work and save time. See the dashboard guide for pause/resume details.
Manual entry (after the fact)
- Open Time in the menu.
- Add a new entry.
- Choose customer and contract.
- Enter date, hours, and a short description of what you did.
- Leave Billable on unless this time should not be invoiced.
- Save.
Use manual entry when you forgot the timer, worked offline, or need to fix history.
Viewing and filtering
The Time page lists entries, usually with filters for month or customer. Tap a row to edit if you need to correct hours, date, or description.
How time connects to billing
- Dashboard totals billable hours this month per contract.
- Invoices can pull in unbilled time for a date range when you build an invoice (if your workflow includes import-from-time).
- Reports include time in the full ledger view.
Always pick the correct contract — hours count against that contract’s included cap on the home screen.
Tips
- Write descriptions clients will understand on invoices (“On-site consultation”, “Design revisions round 2”).
- Use 0.25 or 0.5 hour steps if you round to quarter hours.
- Non-billable time (internal admin, pro bono) can be logged with Billable unchecked so it stays out of client-facing totals.
